Bertha Booker Davis of Water Valley, Mississippi died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Desoto Healthcare in Southaven, Mississippi at the age of 104 years and nine months. She was born in Lafayette County, Mississippi on April 6, 1906 to the late Francis Marion Booker and Elvira Haney Booker.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Friday, January 14 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM in the Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks. Interment will be in Camp Ground Cemetery. There will be no graveside services.
Mrs. Davis had lived in Water Valley for many years before moving into the Desoto Healthcare facility in 1998. She was a member of the Water Valley Church of Christ.
Mrs. Davis is survived by a son, Guy Russell Davis (Marie) of Bartlett, Tennessee; a grandson, Guy Russell Davis, Jr., of Memphis, Tennessee; a step granddaughter, Janice Rowell (Barney) of Nesbit, Mississippi; a step grandson, Michael Allison (Terry) of Bartlett, Tennessee; a great grandson, Brian Davis (Heather) of Arlington, Tennessee; and a great-great granddaughter, Brook Davis of Lakeland, Tennessee.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Davis had been widowed for 78 years, having lost her husband, James R. (Jim) Davis in 1933.
Pallbearers will be: Guy R. (Sonny) Davis, Jack Welch, Bobby Schmitz, Bobby Singleton, and Kenny Goodwin.
