BONGIORNO, Salvatore J., “Sam”, age 85 of Oradell, NJ, formerly of Brooklyn, NY died on Saturday, January 8th, 2011.
Beloved husband, of 50 years, of Eleanor (nee Francesconi). Devoted father of Mark Bongiorno and his wife Ann, Carol Cardie and her husband Bob, Lynn Garbee and her husband Matt. Dear brother of Mary Cancemi and her husband Bob. Predeceased by brothers Stephen and John and sister Rose Lanzilotti. Loving grandfather of twelve grandchildren.
Salvatore graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. A Mechanical Engineer, he worked for Burns and Rose in Oradell, NJ for many years. Oradell Seniors, Finance Council of Sacred Heart RCC, Oradell Swim Club Board Member and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers filled out many of his interests and activities.
Friends and family are invited for visitation on Thursday, January 13th at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service at 9 AM on Friday from the funeral home and then to Sacred Heart RCC for a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
