Maggie Lee Garner, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Tuesday, January 11 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Danny Gay and Rev. Wayne McDuffie officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 1-3 Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home prior to the service.
Ms. Garner was born June 14, 1930 in Chester, Georgia to the late William Henry and Mattie Lee Smith Simmons. She was a former saleslady for Naturalizer Shoes in Macon. Ms. Garner was a member of Bloomfield Gardens Baptist Church, also in Macon.
Ms. Garner is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Pam & Rev. Danny Gay of Fitzgerald; two sons: Steve Pettis of Byron and David Garner of Macon; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters: Louise Pettis of Macon and Pat Masicot of Lake Sinclair; brother: Sam Simmons of Dry Branch; as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by several siblings including her brother: George Simmons.
