Martha Lampos, 84, of New Bedford died January 8, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John and Aglaia (Chagaruly) Lampos, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society.
Miss Lampos was formerly employed as an accounts payable supervisor with Aerovox for many years until her retirement.
She was a volunteer with the United Way. Miss Lampos was a graduate of New Bedford High School and a member of the National Honors Society.
Survivors include 3 sisters, Katherine Karanikolas of Portsmouth, RI and Angelike Lampos and Clover Lampos, both of New Bedford; 5 nieces and nephews, Stephanie Martland and her husband Denis of Portsmouth, RI, George Kalogeris of Winthrop, MA, Gail Perry of Portsmouth, RI, John Kalogeris and his wife Irene of Reading, MA and Nicholas Karanikolas and his wife Margaret of Middletown, RI; 8 great-nieces and great-nephews, Kathryn Martland, Andrew Martland, Gregory Masiakos, Alexander Perry, Alexandra Kalogeris, Elena Karanikolas, Sophia Kalogeris and Kathryn Kalogeris.
She was the sister of the late Joan Kalogeris.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, January 11th at 9:45 AM. Funeral Service at 11 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Cross Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, January 10th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, 186 Cross Rd., Dartmouth.
