Obituary

WEBSTER – Ruth E. (Jarvis) Porter, 82, of 12 Fifth Avenue, died Monday, December 29, in Hubbard Regional Hospital after an illness. Her husband, Raymond Porter, predeceased her.

She leaves 4 sons, Robert E. McGill of Cranston, Rhode Island, Norbert L. Savard, Jr. and Victor A. Savard, both of Webster, and Arthur E. Savard in Texas; a daughter, Cheryl D. Pecor of Nashua, New Hampshire; a brother, George Jarvis of North Attleboro; a sister, Leona George of South Attleboro; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceasd by 3 brothers, Arthur, Victor, and Charles Jarvis.

She was born and raised in North Attleboro, daughter of Arthur and Mabel (England) Jarvis, and lived there until moving to Webster in 1987. She graduated from North Attleboro High School.

Mrs. Porter first worked at Owens-Corning Fiberglass Corp. in Cumberland, Rhode Island, for 15 years. She then was an inspector at Taco Corp. in Cranston, Rhode Island, for 5 years an at Damon Corporation in Norwood for 15 years. She worked as a clerk at Video Tyme for 13 years, retiring in 2000.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Federated. She enjoyed flower gardeningand was an avid Elvis Presley fan.

A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Christ, Federated, 4 Church Street, Webster, at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the United Church of Christ, Federated, 4 Church Street, Webster, MA 01570
