Carol Mae Hancock Mims, age 74, of 971 Arch Cook Road, Pelham, NC left to be with her heavenly father on January 7, 2011 at the home of her sister, 1221 Goodman Road, Pelham . She had been in declining health for the past four years.
Born April 6, 1936 in Pelham, NC, she was the daughter of the late Dexter Hancock, Sr. and Thelma Scott Hancock Booth. She lived most of her life in Pelham and worked as a caregiver for the elderly. Her husband, Bobby Mims, predeceased her. Mrs. Mims was a member of State Line Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons: Tommy Joe Loftis of Pelham and Danny Neal Loftis of Lebanon, Ohio; two brothers: Dexter Hancock, Jr. and Troy Hancock, both of Pelham; three sisters: Dorothy Mitchell of Danville, Nancy Goodman and Linda Hancock, both of Pelham; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special caregiver, Bambi Pulley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Jeffrey Loftis and Curtis Loftis.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Wayne Wallace will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. At other times, they will be at the residence of Raymond and Nancy Goodman, 1221 Goodman Road, Pelham, NC.
