Isaac J. Coombs, 92, of New Bedford died January 7, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Mae (Rosario) Coombs.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Isaac S. and Scelena (Stanley) Coombs, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Coombs was formerly employed as a construction worker for the City of New Bedford.
Survivors include 2 sons, Gordon M. Coombs and his wife Francene and Leonard J. Coombs, all of New Bedford; 2 daughters Scelena M. Coombs of New Bedford and Marilyn Souza of Sarasota Springs, NY; 4 grandchildren, Kelly Coombs, Nikia Coombs and Marcel Dias, all of New Bedford and John Pina of Fairhaven; 5 great-grandchildren, Paul Jr., Naomi, Já Far, Nevaeh and Erica; several nieces and nephews.
Issac was the grandfather of the late Paul Coombs, Sr.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, January 11th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, January 10th from 4-8 PM.
