Elden G. Bucklin, Jr. 79, of Londonderry, NH died Friday January 7, 2011 at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. He was born in Providence, RI on May 22, 1931, son of the late Rev. Elden G. and Beatrice (Keach) Bucklin. He was a resident of Londonderry, NH since 1980, formerly of Essex Junction, VT. Elden served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954. A lifetime member of the Lions International, Elden was active in the Lions Clubs in Essex Junction and later in Londonderry. He was the Lions Sight and Hearing Committee Chairman and was honored with a Melvin Jones fellow for dedicated humanitarian services. Elden was a member of the Colchester Congregational and Baptist Church in Vermont from 1948 to 1980, where he was also a Sunday School Teacher. In 1988, he retired from Verizon where he was employed as a Regional Sales Manager. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alma G. (Thompson) Bucklin of Londonderry; his three children, Deborah B. Landry of Concord, Michael E. Bucklin of White River Junction, VT, Kimberly A. Bucklin of Londonderry; two grandchildren, Nicolette C. Raney and her husband Wesley of Hartland, VT, Marc E. Bucklin of Burlington, VT; his extended family, George and Caroline (Thompson) Racine, William and Beverly (Thompson) Slimm, Richard Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held on Monday January 10, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Funeral services were held on Tuesday January 11th at 2:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Essex, VT in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation in care of Londonderry Lions Club, PO Box 642, Londonderry, NH 03053.
