HIGHTOWER, Genevieve (nee Green), age 95 of Livingston, NJ, formerly of Saddle River, NJ died on January 5th 2011.
Devoted mother of William Hightower, Gail Brown, Doris Hightower and the late Carol Taylor. Loving grandmother of Cecilia Brown, William Wright, David Wright, Robert Wright and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Carroll Hightower as well as other cherished family and friends.
Genevieve was the first African American graduate of the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, Morristown, NJ. She was a teacher and social worker for many years.
Friends and family are invited for visitation at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service from the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 9 AM and then to St. Anastasia’s RCC in Teaneck for a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. Donations may be made, in her name, to St. Anastasia’s RCC, 1095 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ 07666.
