Joan Doliner passed away on January 5, 2011. Joan was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the only child of James Bradley McKinstry and Mary Hackett McKinstry. She was raised in Barnwell, South Carolina and Ludlow, Vermont where Joan came to love the outdoors and sports. Joan graduated in 1951 from Sargent College at Boston University. She taught physical education and coached basketball, field hockey and lacrosse in Millis, Massachusetts for a number of years in the early 1950's. Joan married Julius Doliner in 1956. Being an avid sports fan and a devoted mom, Joan never missed a game while her three children were in middle school and high school in Milton, Massachusetts. The next generation inherited her passion for athletics which also provided many games for her to attend and cheer. Joan was a member of the Milton Women's Club. She greatly enjoyed family vacations and the opportunity to twice attend the summer Olympics and numerous Super Bowls with college friends. Most of all Joan loved her home and friends who lived nearby at Lewis Bay in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Joan resided at Sunrise of Norwood in recent years. The family extends their gratitude and high regard for the compassion, respect and professionalism with which the staff at Sunrise shared with Joan each day. Joan is survived by her three children, Michael Doliner and wife Donna of Norwood, MA, Susan Doliner of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, James Doliner of St. Petersburg, Florida, daughter-in-law Peg Anderson of Cape Elizabeth, Maine and five grandchildren, Allison, Janine, Michael, Emily and Bradley. She is also survived by her aunt, Kay Hackett of West Hartford, CT. Joan was the former wife of the late Julius Doliner.
