Charles Loyd Calder, Age 68, died on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born on January 18, 1942 in Sumner, MS to the late Alexander Monroe and Hattie Mae Liles Calder. Mr. Calder was District 1, Yalobusha County Constable. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Coffeeville, MS where he sang with the Croaking Frogs Quartet. Charles enjoyed playing the harmonica and guitar. He loved hunting, gardening and his tractor.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church in Coffeeville, MS with Bro. James West and Bro. Donnie Bain officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery with Alex Calder, Lance Humphreys, David Wallace, Bobby Kendall, Russell Calder and Robert Calder serving as pallbearers. Emmett Brown, Bo Jackson, Stu Holiday, Charles Liles, David Liles, Louis Boyle, Chet Buford and Randy Simmons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
He is survived by his spouse, Barbara Chandler Calder; one step-daughter, Terri (Leonard) Simpson; a son, Kenny Calder and a step-son, Jerry (Alisha) Ferguson; two brothers, James (Ann) Calder and Glen (Bessie) Calder; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of Coffeeville, MS.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Randy Lee Calder.
