Amy E. “Peg” Helwig passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2003 at Fairview in Groton.
She was born on January 30, 1917 to Ralph and Lola Seguine in Hartford. She grew up in W. Hartford graduating from Hall High School in 1935. She later graduated from Bay Path College in 1937.
Mrs. Helwig was employed at Hartford Electric Light Co. and by Dr. Carl Mikolowski of Manchester as Office Manager.
Amy married Charles M. Helwig in 1941 and was a longtime resident of Manchester. He predeceased her in 1987. In Manchester, she was active in Center Congregational Church, Manchester memorial Hospital Auxilliary and AARP. She moved to Mystic River Homes Congregate in 1996 to be closer to her daughter.
She leaves behind her daughter an son-in-law, Lynda and Michael Hewitt; her sister, Barbara Lineburgh all of Noank, 2 grandchildren, Heather Denman and her husband Rodney of Salem, MA and James Hewitt and his wife Maury of San Francisco, CA, 2 great-grandchildren Paul and Lyndsay Denman; her brother, Rev. Ralph Seguine and his wife Marguerite of Brooklyn, CT, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Mystic Congregational Church on Wednesday at 2:30pm. Private burial will precede the service at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill. There are no visiting hours.
