Edith A. Morse, 93

Dateline: Attleboro, MA

Edith A. (Morton) Morse, 93, of Attleboro and a former resident of Mansfield, passed away on Monday January 3, 2011 at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro.
Born in Boston, MA on March 19, 1917, she was a dear daughter of the late William G., Sr. and Agnes (MacClean) Morton.
She grew up in Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield public schools and was a 1935 graduate of Mansfield High School.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Morse had been employed as a Lab Technician at Texas Instruments in Attleboro for 37 years. She had made her home in Attleboro for over 50 years and was a former 40 year resident of Mansfield.
An avid golfer, Edith was a member of the Norton Country Club for many years. She enjoyed bowling and was a former member of the Ladies Amateur Duck Pin Bowling Association. Mrs. Morse also enjoyed playing in bridge tournaments, spending time with her adoring family, and at age 47 had parachuted with the East Taunton Para divers.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children Beverly A. Woodworth of Attleboro, Frederick J. Morse of North Attleboro and Norman S. ”Scott” Morse of Mansfield. The sister of Frances Barre of Florida, Florence Robinson of Bolton, Hugh Morton of Florida and late William G. Morton, Jr., Margery Thayer and Dorothy Tamule, Edith is also survived by her cherished 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Kathleen M. Morse.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday January 8th from 3-5 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Private burial services will be held at a later date in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
