Derry - Robert T. McRobbie, 72, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, surrounded by his family. He was born September 29, 1938 in Lawrence, MA to the late Charles and Rita (Toomey) McRobbie. He was raised and educated in Methuen, MA and graduated from Tenney High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Wasp.
Mr. McRobbie worked as a truck driver for many years and most recently transported disabled people for S.A.R.C. and Center for Life Management. His hobby was genealogy and was putting together his family tree. He was also an avid sportsman, his favorite was hockey.
Family members include his wife of 47 years; Joyce (Grondin) McRobbie of Derry, his son; Scott McRobbie of Manchester, NH, his daughters; Robin McRobbie of Derry, Kimberly Sienkiewicz and her husband Dennis of Chester, NH and Kelsey Grondin McRobbie of Haverhill, MA, two grandchildren; Colby and Mia of Chester, his brothers, Charles of Methuen, Richard of Lawrence, MA and Michael of Salem, NH, his sisters; Monica Charest of Lawrence, Kathryn Blanchard and Mary Guilmette, both of Methuen. He is also survived by an uncle, cousins and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother; John.
At his request there will be no calling hours. Following cremation a graveside service was held 11:00am Friday, January 7, 2011 in Forest Hill Cemetery located behind First Parish Church at 47 E. Derry Rd., E. Derry. Family and friends were respectfully invited to attend the service.
