Carl A. Bishop
...Master Electrician; 62
TEWKSBURY - Carl A. Bishop, age 62, a well known businessman and resident of Tewksbury, died Sunday evening, January 2, at his Tewksbury residence, following a courageous nine month battle with Glioblastoma IV or brain cancer. He was the beloved husband and high school sweetheart of Linda D. (Purser) Bishop, with whom he had celebrated a 40th wedding anniversary this past April 12.
He was born in Lowell, November 14, 1948, a son of the late Carl and Frances Florence (Fox) Bishop. He was raised in Tewksbury, and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School with the Class of 1966. He attended West Virginia State College. He was a lifelong resident of Tewksbury, and enjoyed the four seasons at the family's Sebago Lake home in Maine, and winter vacations in Aruba. He will be best remembered for his love and devotion to his wife, children, and adoring grandchildren.
During the Vietnam War, Carl served in the U.S. Navy, and fulfilled his sea duty tour aboard the USS Boston.
He earned a Master Electrician license, and worked as a self employed electrician for many years. His passion for fishing and boating led to opening Bishop's Tackle Shop in South Tewksbury during the 1980's. For the last decade, he worked as a contractor and supervisor building and installing corporate data centers along the east coast for the Total Site Solutions, New England Division.
Carl and Linda were active members of the New England Bible Church in Andover.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Stacey Gonsalves and her husband Manny of Tewksbury; a son Sean Bishop of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Johnathan Gonsalves, Lindsey Gonsalves, Joseph Gonsalves, Allie Donovan, and Brennen Bishop; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rita Robinson of VT, and Lynda Johnson and her husband Randy of FL; his mother-in-law, Mary (Schena) Purser of Tewksbury; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Randy and Carol Purser of Tewksbury, Sandra and Robert Canaway of Nashua, Judy Goulet and her significant other, David Manning also of Nashua; several nieces and nephews; and many close and dear friends.
His Funeral Service was held Wednesday, Jan. 5, in the New England Bible Church, 60 Chandler St. Andover. Burial with Navy Honors was at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Tewksbury Food Pantry, 999 Whipple Road, Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
