James “Roger” Caldwell, 74, of Washington passed away at 12:25pm Saturday January 1st, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on August 17, 1936 in Peoria the son of James E. and Helen L. Sowers Caldwell.
Surviving is one son Jim (Kris) Caldwell and their three daughters Kaley, Kassy, and Kara all of Washington. He is also survived by one brother Michael (Shirley) Caldwell of Washington, two sisters Dianne (Wayne) Schaffner of East Peoria, and Lori (Keith) Welk of Washington. His parents and one infant brother preceded him in death.
Roger was a 1954 graduate of Washington Community high school. He then attended Bradley University. He then worked for RG LeTourneau in Peoria before being drafted and becoming an honorably discharged US Army Veteran serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked at Komatsu Dresser for 42 years retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the NRA, National Kaiser Frazier Club, Midwest Gun Club and enjoyed coffee in the afternoon with his friends at Hardees in Washington. He also enjoyed having breakfast with his high school classmates. He loved his granddaughters and attending many of their activities. Roger was a hobbyist with many interests.
Services will be 10am Wednesday Jan 5, 2011 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be Tuesday Jan 4th from 4pm until 7pm also at the funeral home. Burial will follow his service and be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family to be given to a charity of their choice at a later date.
