Obituary

Joseph Elton “Joe” Horner, 69, of Douglas passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011, at his home with the love of his family around him. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Unity Baptist Church, 802 Williams-Gibbs Road. Rev. William Fogarty will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church prior to the service.

Mr. Horner was born on January 21, 1941 in Dade City, Florida. He was a retired truck driver. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion. He will be missed by family and friends alike.

Mr. Horner is survived by his wife, Janie Ruth Hayes Horner of Douglas; two daughters, LaDonna Stripling of Douglas and Lori Horner of New York; two sons, Joey Horner of New York and Richard Horner of New York; three granddaughters, Crystal Boyd, Sabrina Goins and Hope Gutierrez; four great-grandchildren, Madison Robinson, Edward “Bubby” Robinson, Juan Pablo “J.P.” Gutierrez II and Hayden Goins; one brother, David Horner of Haynes City, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
