Roy W. Robinson, a lifelong resident of Stoughton and World War II Veteran, passed away at home on Thursday December 30, 2010. He was 91 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann M. ( McEwan ) Robinson. He is survived by his daughter Roberta A. MacLeod of Arizona, his four grandchildren, David P. MacLeod and his wife Mary of Stoughton, Marlene Sheaffer and her husband Dennis of Fall River, Sandra Andruk of Bridgewater, Michael MacLeod and his wife Mary of New Hampshire and six great - grandchildren.
Born on September 18, 1919 in Stoughton, Massachusetts he was a son of the late Walter W. and Miria C. ( Roy ) Robinson. He attended Stoughton Public Schools. Mr. Robinson was a Machinists Mate Third Class while serving his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was employed as a Maintenance Foreman and Supervisor by the Massachusetts Department of Public Works for over thirty - one years. He retired in 1976.
Mr. Robinson was a Past President and longtime member of the C. W. Welch Memorial Fish & Game Preserve, Inc. in Stoughton. He also served as Chairman and was a member of the Stoughton Conservation Commission from 1963 – 1975.
Other hobbies include, hunting, fishing, gardening and card games at home, Poker was his favorite . He was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday January 3, 2011 from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. All are welcome to attend. At his request, all funeral services and burial will be private.
