Obituary

WORCESTER-Robert F. Houde, 86, passed away Friday, December 31 at St. Mary’s Healthcare.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Katherine M. (Sullivan) Houde; two sons, Robert F. Houde, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Princeton and their children Rebecca and Matthew and Daniel J. Houde and his wife Linda of Northbridge and their son Devin. He also leaves two sisters, Lenore Donnelly of Alexandria, VA and Mabel St. George of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. Robert’s three brothers, Donald, Frederick and Arthur Houde and his sister, Shirley Schubert predeceased him.

Mr. Houde was born in Spencer the son of Frederick R. and Mabel (Bigelow) Houde. He was a WW II Navy veteran and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. Upon returning from the war he graduated from Commerce High School. Robert worked as an assembler at General Motors in Framingham for many years before retiring. After retirement, he worked as a courier for ADP in Auburn. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, the Main South American Legion Post #341 and was a former member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243.

The family would like to send a special thank you to St. Mary’s Healthcare, especially to the workers and aides who cared for Robert.

The funeral will be on Thursday, January 6 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St with a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew the Apostle Mission, 5 Spaulding St. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, January 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
