Karen Marie Hurst, 50, Southside, TN, died Friday, December 31, 2010, at her residence. The funeral will be held at 1 PM Wednesday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Brother James Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home and from 11 AM until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Karen was born on April 28, 1960 at Fort Belvoir, Virginia to Marie Love Tipton and the late Bernard Ray Rector. She was a 16 year veteran of the Clarksville Police Department where her last assignment was as a Detective with the Major Crimes Unit. She was also a member of the Clarksville Police Union and had a Bachelors Degree in Psychology at APSU. Survivors include her mother, husband; Gary Hurst of Southside, TN, two sons; Christopher Outler and Matthew Outler, three daughters; Desiree Moore, Lacy Outler, and Victoria Hurst, two brothers; Tim (Catherine) Rector and Mike (Janeth) Rector, and two grandchildren; Alyssa and Zoey. Pallbearers will be members of the Clarksville Police Department. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 2008 Charlotte Avenue Nashville, TN 37203-2003.
