Worcester – Frank J. Roy, 83, of 27 Wyola Dr. died on Sunday Dec. 28 in his home after an illness.
His wife of 38 years Marguerite A. (Rushford) Roy predeceased him in 1984. Mr. Roy leaves four sons Rev. Michael J. Roy, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Webster, Richard F. Roy husband of Patricia, Paul D. Roy husband of Deborah and Jack R. Roy husband of Monica all of Worcester; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and a long time close friend of 17 years Anne Gosselin of Worcester. He was born in Worcester son of Frank and Julia (Geary) Roy.
Mr. Roy grew up on Grafton Hill and was raised with his cousins the Gabriau family of Fairmont Ave.
Mr. Roy worked as a machinist for 43 years at Rexnord Corporation formerly Rex Chain Belt retiring in 1979.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church where he was a Daily Communicant for the past 24 years and also volunteered as an Altar Server for funeral masses. Mr. Roy was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society of his parish and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council and the Greendale Men’s Club. He was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed gardening.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday Dec. 31 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. with a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are on Tuesday Dec. 30 from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
