Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 9am. Funeral Mass in St. Colman Church at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 3-7pm.
Obituary Information
Mr. Hannigan died Sunday morning at Life Care Center in West Bridgewater after a period of failing health. Born in Hull, son of the late Joseph E. and Margaret (Ryan) Hannigan, he was raised in Brockton, attended Brockton schools and was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1935. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Tech Sergeant after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Post WWII he served in France, Germany, England and Luxembourg and during Vietnam he served in the Philippines and Thailand. After his military career he returned to Brockton and worked for the City of Brockton until his retirement.
He was an avid WWII historian, enjoyed reading, traveling and playing bingo. He was a longtime communicant of St. Colman Church.
He is survived by one sister Margaret B. Whalen of Brockton, one brother George C. Hannigan of Denmark Maine, 11 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and several great great nephews
He was the brother of the late Patricia M Barry
