Miller, Margaret Jane (Ellis)
Of Cambridge, formerly of New York City and Rio de Janeiro, age 88, Dec. 29th. Born in Peoria, Illinois, daughter of William Edward Ellis and Dorothy Marie Allton Ellis. Dr. Miller worked as a guidance counselor at the Escola Americana in Rio de Janeiro, and at the United Nations International School in New York City. While at the U.N. School, she received an honorary doctorate from Marymount Manhattan College and pioneered the teaching of psychology in high school. In retirement, she worked as one of the best property managers in Cambridge.
She is survived by her sister, Alma (Luci) Parrish, of Myrtle Beach, sister-in-law, Sue Ellis, of Peoria, by daughter, Pamela Sue Miller and her wife, Clara Laboy, of Worcester, daughter, Patrice Marie Miller and husband Michael Lamport Commons, of Cambridge, and son, Carl William Miller, and his partner Kay Deeney, of Los Angeles. She was much loved by her four grandchildren, Taube Lubart Vallabha, Lucas Commons-Miller, Nicholas Commons-Miller, and Danny Deeney-Miller, and will be missed by her two great-grandchildren, David and Tara Vallabha and by Taube’s husband Gautam Vallabha. She will also be much missed by her niece, Julie Marsh, her husband Doug, their daughters Sarah, and Lindsay, and her niece Janet and nephew Todd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to UNICEF or to a charity of your choice.
