FRANKLIN—Elaine C. (Tauriainen) Bacon 71, of Franklin, died Friday December 24, 2010 at the Franklin Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. She was the wife of the late David H. Bacon who died in 2000.
Born in Askel, Michigan, on September 20, 1939 a daughter of the late Matt & Hilia (Moilanen) Tauriainen she had been a resident of Franklin for many years and was also a resident of Walpole for more than 44 years.
She was raised and educated in Michigan, and until her retirement worked as a certified nursing assistant for many area homes.
Elaine enjoyed traveling especially to Aruba, Cancun, and Sandwich on Cape Cod. She was a devoted New York Yankees fan and treasured time spent with her family, friends and pets. She loved the New England Patriots and going out to eat.
She is survived by 2 brothers; David Tauriainen of Michigan, Raymond Tauriainen and his wife Donna of Indiana, 4 sisters; Aili Vaughan of Michigan, Doris Kersey and her husband Earl of Texas, Linda Edwards of Illinois, and Ruth Bakalars, and her husband Robert of Franklin. Also surviving, her dear close friend Tuttie Fortin of Florida, and loyal sister in law Jean Sawyer of Indiana.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews including her primary care givers Yvonne Nicholson and Cindy Shepherd.
She was the sister of the late Carl, Richard, Reino Tauriainen, Vilma Kuure and Viola Hovnan.
Elaine's sister Ruth and nieces Yvonne and Cindy would like to thank the staff at the Franklin Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care and comfort they gave to Elaine.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday January 5, 2011 at 6PM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, www.franklinfuneral.com.
A time of visitation will be held from 5-6PM prior to the service.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory sent to the Activities Center at the Franklin Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center 130 Chestnut St. Franklin, MA 02038 would be appreciated.
