Obituary

Shrewsbury, Anthony M. Cotoia, 68, of 19 Greenleaf Farms Circle died Friday, December 26, 2003, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease. At the time of his retirement, he served at Executive Assistant to the President of Salem State College.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara J. (Furnari) Cotoia, two sons, Scott A. Cotoia and his wife Jill of Monaca, PA and Michael R. Cotoia and his wife Maria of Sutton, four grandsons--Kyle, Anthony, Colby, and David; and a brother, Richard Cotoia, of Haverhill.

He was born in Malden, son of the late Costanzo and Angelina (Cassese) Cotoia. He is a graduate of Salem State College and received his Masters Degree from Tufts University and his Doctorate from Nova University.

He received numerous awards and citations for his contributions to higher education, including the Person of the Year award from the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges.

His funeral will be held Wednesday December 31, 2003, from the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury, MA, with a Mass at 10 AM at Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday Dec. 30, 2003, from 4-8 PM
