Mrs. Edelle B. Gray, 87, of Ocilla died Tuesday, December 28 at the Osceola Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County with the Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-2 Sunday before the funeral at the church.
Mrs. Gray was born September 12, 1923 in Vidalia to the late Harold T. and Clara Sumner Blount. She graduated high school in Vidalia and attended South Georgia College in Douglas and Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Gray was a homemaker, a former substitute school teacher in Irwin County and a former employee of Luke Peanut & Grain. She lived in Irwin County most of her life where she was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Dian & Johnny Davis of Fitzgerald; 5 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dan Gray, a son, Wayne Gray, 6 sisters, Evelyn Daniel, Emma Mills, Louise Peterson, Zara Ivan Hunt, Doris Parker and Mae Blount Day; 3 brothers, Walter Blount, Wilbur Blount and Harold Blount.
