Halifax – Bruce R. McNevin 72 of Halifax died Monday December 27 at Signature Healthcare Hospital in Brockton after a long illness.
Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Ernest D. and Anne E. (Bissonette) McNevin.
He had worked at several cabinet shops in Brockton, and at one time was proprietor of his own business, The Top Shop, manufacturing counter tops and vanities.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the sport and his friends at White Pines. He was an active member of the Joy in Christ Lutheran Church of Abington and a past president of the church council there.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Audrey E. (Erickson) McNevin, and daughters Cheryl D. Simpson (wife of the late Malcolm L. Simpson III) of Halifax and Linda J. Amaral and her husband Michael of Middleboro. He also leaves four grandchildren, Matthew K., Ryan E. and Ashleigh A. Simpson, Nicholas A. McNevin, and one great grandchild Breeann N. Simpson all of Halifax. He also leaves two brothers David A. MacNevin of Anderson, SC and Robert N. McNevin of Wareham as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ernest J., Donald P., and Philip W. McNevin and Doris A. Yorke.
Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service to be held Sunday January 2 at 2 PM in the Joy in Christ Church, 21 S. Bedford Street, Abington, MA 02351. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to the Joy in Christ Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
