WORCESTER-Dorothy A. (Chanis) Bowse, 81, of Worcester, died Wednesday, December 29th in UMass-Memorial Hospital. She leaves her son, John C. Bowse and his wife Leslie Hughes of Northbridge; her daughter, Johanna S. Rementer and her husband Joe of Cocoa, FL; her brother, Charles Chanis and his wife Irene of Worcester; five grandchildren, Marcus Rementer and his wife Nikita, Matthew and Elena Rementer and Zachary and Chanis Bowse; a great grandson, Connor; many nephews; two special nieces, Tina Niedbala and Connie Hebert. Her brother, William P. Chanis and her sister, Sophia Johns predeceased her.
Dorothy was born in Worcester, the daughter of Spyridon and Vasiliki (Pappas) Chanis. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Dorothy had such a loving and giving nature. She was selfless, compassionate and would do anything for her family and friends. Dorothy had such a zest for life and was an encouragement to others. Everyone who met her was influenced by her in some way. Our Mother continues to help us now. We love you Mum and we will miss you more than words can say. You can rest now and be at peace.
The funeral is Monday, January 3rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, January 2nd from 2:00 until 4:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Massachusetts Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605 or to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
