Joseph Bernam “J.B.” Grantham, 95, of Enigma died Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p .m. on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at New River Holiness Church in Berrien County. Rev. Gerald Lee will officiate with burial to follow in Vickers Church Cemetery in Berrien County. Kevin Donald, Richard Irvin, Robert Wheeler and Myron Wheeler will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 31, 2010, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Grantham was born on January 14, 1915 in Bleckley County and was the son of Coley Grantham and Maggie Leila Arnold Grantham, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Virginia Parker Grantham; two sisters, Mary Lee Grantham Allen and Martha Grantham Itson; and two brothers, Gus Grantham and Jim Grantham. He was a retired farmer and attended New River Holiness Church. Mr. Grantham was well-known in the community with many friends and he loved people. He was a kind and gentle man whose word was his bond.
Mr. Grantham is survived by one brother, William Grantham of Doerun; and his sister-in-law, Sandra Parker Hutchinson and her husband, Bud, of Enigma. He was a special uncle to Shawna (Kevin) Donald, Heather (Richard) Irvin and Erica (Corey) Bayne; and a special great-uncle to Tyler and Ryan Donald, Aaron Irvin, and Katie and Cecil Bayne.
