AUBURN: Bernice E. (Gregory) Rich 76, of Jeffrey Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 28 at home following a long illness.
She was the wife of Donald R. Rich who died in 1993. She leaves her son David G. Rich of So.Yarmouth, two granddaughters Jennifer and Stephanie Laramee and their father Gary Laramee all of Spencer, her brother Robert C. Gregory of Spencer, and two nieces. She is predeceased by her daughter Deborah A. Laramee in 1997 and her sister Shirley Morrill in 2007.
Bernie was a senior teller at the former Shawmut Bank in Spencer for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Born in Spencer, she was the daughter of Clarence and Irene B. (Cournoyer) Gregory and lived there before moving to Auburn in 1985.
She graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer. She was a former member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and later a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Auburn. She was an avid golfer and member of Bass River Country Club in So.Yarmouth, and played golf in Margate, Fl. where she had a winter home.
The family would like to thank UMASS Memorial Hospice team, Kelly, Leah, Ted,Chris and especially Bernice, and her Doctors Susan Zweizig and Russell Young for their compassionate care.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Jan. 3 at 2 p.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer. A calling hour will precede the service from 1 to 2 p.m.
