Dewey David Saxton, age 78, died at his home in Lafayette County on December 25, 2010. Born in Yazoo County to George Dave and Jewel Hasty Saxton, Mr. Saxton worked as a tool and die maker for Holley Carburator for 20 years. He enjoyed fruit and vegetable gardening, and was a carpenter. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in Water Valley, MS.
Visitation for Mr. Saxton will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2010 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The graveside funeral service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery at 1:00 PM with Bro. R. W. Moffett officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.
He is survived by three daughters, Sharon Herron of Jackson, MS, Julia McCoy of Water Valley, MS, and Clara McCoy of Jackson, MS; six sons, Michael Saxton of Flowood, MS, Charles Saxton of Ridgeland, MS, Cecil (Betty) Saxton of Ridgeland, MS, Jerry Saxton, Sr. of Jackson, MS, Alex McCoy of Batesville, MS, and Archie McCoy of Water Valley, MS; four sisters, Mary Davis, Ila Ward, and Carlee House, all of Benton, MS, and Ruby Ward of Vicksburg, MS;; two brothers, Howard Saxton and J. T. Saxton, both of Yazoo City, MS; 17 grandchildren, and 28 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Pansy Saxton and one sister, Ruthie Harrington.
