Edward G. Dinneen, 85 of Brockton and Humarock, died peacefully at his home Friday December 24, 2010. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Rita (Desaulniers) Dinneen. Born and raised in Brockton, Edward was the son of the late Edward J. and Kathleen L. (Gorman) Dinneen. Following graduation from Brockton High School he served with the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. Upon his military discharge Edward graduated from Harvard University in the Class of 1946. He retired from the First National Bank of Boston as vice president in the international banking division where he was stationed around the world, including Ireland, England and throughout Latin America.
Edward was a member of the Harvard Club and traveled extensively with his wife. He loved to read and stay on top of current events. He read the Wall Street Journal every day until the day he died. He also enjoyed his summers spent with his wife Rita in Humarock.
Edward is survived by a sister-in-law Sr. Caroline Desaulniers, RSCJ of Albany, NY and his neighbors and adoptive family Barbara Stork and her children Cheryl Stork-Pierce, David Stork and Jodi Schultz and their spouses and children. He also leaves his Humarock neighbor AJ Hassett, many other friends, and his beloved dog Lucky. Edward was pre-deceased by a sister-in-law Louise Desaulniers.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 9 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-7 pm. Donations in Edward’s name may be made to Mass General Hospital c/o the MGH Fund 55 Fruit St. Boston, MA.
