Roberta J. (Campbell) Cochran of Andover, formerly of Lexington and beloved wife of the late James A. Cochran, died at her home on Friday morning, December 24, 2010. She was 89 years old.
Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on March 16, 1921, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert M. Campbell and Blanche (Wellwood) Campbell. Mrs. Cochran was a graduate of Somerville High School and the Chandler Secretarial School. She worked for the Lexington Public School System for 22 years, as an elementary school secretary. Roberta was active in various activities in the Episcopal Church in Lexington and always loved to visit with her family and friends.
She will be sorely missed by her loving family, including three children; Robert A Cochran and his wife Anne of Thornton, New Hampshire, Jane E. Dum of Munich, Germany and Beth A. Rufo and her husband Gerard of Andover, five grandchildren; Suzanne Courson and her husband, Hank of Oakton, Virginia, John Cochran and his wife Jennifer of Reston, Virginia, Elizabeth and Robert Dum both of Munich, Germany and Thomas Rufo and his wife, Amy of Andover, seven great-grandchildren; Sarah, Emily and Campbell Courson of Oakton, Virginia, Julia and Jack Cochran of Reston, Virginia and Alison and T.J. Rufo of Andover, Massachusetts. She is also survived by her loving nephew, Alex Murphy and his wife, Marie.
Her funeral service was celebrated at Christ Church, 25 Central Street, Andover, Wednesday at 10 AM. Many relatives respectfully attended. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Tuesday from 3 to 6 PM. Interment was in the Westview Cemetery in Lexington.
