Iris Strickland, 84, of Ocilla, Georgia died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Jack Perrin officiating. Sean Williams will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
Mrs. Strickland was born October 8, 1926 in Ben Hill County to the late Elkin Walter and Annie Bell Fountain Williams. She lived in Ben Hill and Irwin Counties all of her life. Mrs. Strickland was a retired Lunchroom lady at Fitzgerald High School. She was a member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Strickland is survived by her daughter: Lynn Sumner of Ocilla; grandchildren: Brian Sumner of Ocilla, Kerri Sumner Eckstrand of McDonough and Jessica Strickland Clayton of Fitzgerald and 10 great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Homer Strickland and a son, Dowe Strickland.
