Obituary

EAST TAUNTON – Joseph O. Sevigny, beloved husband of Barbara A. (Perry) Sevigny, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on Dec. 21, 2010.
A resident of East Taunton for the past six years, he was 78.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Omer J. and Yvonne B. (St. Laurent) Sevigny.
Raised and educated in Fall River, he served in the US Navy for twenty years, during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
He was a Machinist Mate on Polaris class ballistic missile submarines.
Retiring from the Navy in 1970 as a Chief Petty Officer and settling in Raynham, he was subsequently employed by Harbormaster Marine as an outboard propulsion mechanic, and traveled worldwide, repairing marine engines.
He retired in 2001.
A communicant of Holy Family Church, Mr. Sevigny enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife Barbara of E. Taunton, he leaves a son, Joseph R. Sevigny and his wife Sandra of E. Taunton; two brothers, Roger Sevigny and his wife Gail of Westport and Francis Sevigny and his wife Trudy of Fall River; two sisters, Eliza Hostetter and her husband Pap of DE, and Cookie St. Onge and her husband Bob of Rochester; two grandchildren, Daniel J. and Kathryn A. Sevigny, both of E. Taunton; a brother-in-law, John J. Perry of Fall River; and several cousins nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Henry Sevigny and Yvonne Racine.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway Taunton on Tuesday, Dec. 28th at 8:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church, East Taunton at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be at the MA National VA Cemetery in Bourne.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 27th from 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
