Obituary

Dr. William P. Walsh, 81, of New Bedford died Thursday December 25, 2003 unexpectedly at home. He was the husband of the late Frances G. (Londregan) Walsh.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Arthur F. and Alice (Kiernan) Walsh, he had lived in New Bedford for most of his life. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Brown University and Yale University Medical School.

He was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.

Dr. Walsh was a physician who maintained his own private medical practice in New Bedford for many years.

Dr. Walsh served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Massachusetts Medical Society, the New Bedford High School Football Father's Club, and a former Board member of the New Bedford Boys & Girls Club.

Survivors include 2 sons, Patrick T. Walsh, and his wife Heidi, of New Bedford, and Michael A. Walsh, and his wife Susan, of Baton Rouge, LA; 2 brothers, Dr. Paul F. Walsh and Arthur B. Walsh, and his wife Mary Jane, all of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren, Timothy Walsh, Ryan Walsh, Patrick Walsh, Michael Walsh, Matthew Walsh and Melissa Walsh; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford,Monday December 29, 2003 at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday December 28, 2003 from 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New Bedford Boys & Girls Club, 166 Jenney St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
