Gladys E. (Nichols) Huyler, 88, of Westport, formerly of Medfield, MA died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was wife of Horace L. Huyler.
Born in Boston, daughter of the late Charles J. and Elizabeth C. (Erhardt) Nichols, she had lived in Westport since 1969. A veteran of WWII she was a Lieutenant serving her country as a nurse in The United States Army. A graduate of the Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1944, she was a registered nurse for various hospitals in MA. Mrs. Huyler was a member of the Cortez Allen Chapter #161 O.E.S. of Westport, a life member of the Dartmouth V.F.W. Post 9059, Dartmouth, former member of American Legion Post 145, Westport and a life member and former past commander of Nickerson Post 118 D.A.V., Westport.
Including her husband, survivors include a son: Charles E. Huyler of Westport; 3 daughters: Evelyn Crandall of CA, Joan Huyler-Collier of Wareham and Barbara Majndle of Westport; a sister: Dorothy Burke of Topsfield, MA; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was mother of the late Philip L. Huyler.
Eastern Star Service under the direction of the Cortez Allen Chapter #161 will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Potter Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M.

Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
