Obituary

John J.”Jack” Baker Jr., 79, of Methuen, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Wingate at Haverhill.
John was born to the late John J. and Helen Baker, raised and educated in Methuen. He worked for many years as an Engineer with the State of MA on various Highway projects in and around the Boston area. John was a 50 year member of Saggahew Tribe #60, PGI of the United States, PGS, State of MA, a life member of the VFW, Methuen and a life member of the American Legion. Jack enjoyed traveling and traveled through many of the states within the country.
John is predeceased by a daughter, Norma Hartwick and a grandson, John Thomas. He leaves his loving wife of 47 years, Pearl (Ebert) Baker, a brother, Thomas C. Baker and his wife Margaret of Hampstead, NH, 2 sons, Tom Baker and his wife Edwina of Hampstead, NH and Thomas Barnes and his wife Marie of Candia, NH, 6 grandchildren, Edward, Tammy and Mark Baker, Jennifer Hartwick and Courtney and Kara Barnes, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22 at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Methuen. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, MA Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
