John J. “Jack” Malcolmson, a resident of Medford for more than 25 years and beloved husband of the late Ruth A. (Fitzpatrick) died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Sunday evening, December 19, 2010. He was 76 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 3, 1934, he was the beloved son of the late James and Mary (Crowley) Malcolmson. Mr. Malcolmson was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He had worked for Draper Labs and Raytheon for many years as a Technical Writer. Jack loved spending time at the Cape and enjoyed fishing. He also loved to travel. Above all, Mr. Malcolmson was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He will be sorely missed by his loving daughters, Diane M. Malcolmson and her husband George R. Henman of Belmont; Karen M. and her husband Robert M. Hurley of Newburyport and Laurie R. Malcolmson of Belmont, brother’s; James Malcolmson of Boston and Robert Malcolmson of Arizona, grandchildren; Sarah; Caleb; Marshall; Olivia; Alexander and Julia and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Malcolmson was also the father of the late John J. Malcolmson.
His funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 10 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial, celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held on Wednesday, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be private.
