Mary P. Cortina, 78, of Derry, NH, died Sunday December 19, 2010, in the Bedford Hills Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford, NH. She was born in Cambridge, MA on March 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Ledo) Gaipo. Mrs. Cortina had been a resident of Bedford for the past several months, formerly living in Derry, NH for seven years, and Chelmsford, MA for many years. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry.
She is survived by two sons, Douglas Cortina of Derry, and Greg Cortina of Nashua, NH; one daughter, Gail Lopata of Concord; four grandchildren, Alicia Rose Cortina, Nicholas William Cortina, Kimberly Ann Cortina, and Melissa Anne Cortina; two sisters, Dorothy Mason of Virginia Beach, VA, and Hilda Corliss of Oklahoma, also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore T. Cortina in 2005.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday December 23, 2010 at 10:00am in St. Matthew's Church, Searles Rd., Windham, NH. Burial was in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
