Mathew “Mack“ Harmon, age 91, died on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Mack was born on December 14, 1919 to the late James Matthew and Victoria Jane Palmer Harmon. He was self-employed as a carpenter. Mack loved to play the fiddle and won several fiddling competitions. He was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS.
Graveside services will be held at Paris Cemetery in Paris, MS at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 23, 2010. The family and friends will gather for visitation at 9:30 AM. Bro. Freddie Morman, Sr. will conduct the service.
Mack is survived by his spouse, Lottie Mae Harmon of Water Valley, MS; two daughters, Mackie Surrette of Lafayette County and Teresa Kay Howell of Hamilton, AL; and one grandchild, Ricky Surrette.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five sisters, Cora Lee Stegall, Velsie Bratton, Envie Mize, Ezy Mize and Marie Singletary; and three brothers, Kelly Harmon, G. A. “Bunk” Harmon and Richard Harmon.
