Obituary

Covino, Frances (Maravigna) - a 60-year resident of Winchester, passed peacefully at Youville Place Assisted Living Facility at the age of 92 on December 19th.
Born in the North End of Boston she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe & Michaelangela Maravigna. Frances was the beloved wife of 53 years to the late Ernest Covino, Sr. and is survived by her son Ernest, Jr. and his wife Ruthann of Burlington; Daughters Rosalie Jackson and her husband Odis of Cowan, TN; Janet Doxey and her husband Frank of Litchfield, NH, Tehran Covino of San Francisco, CA , Karen Covino and her husband Richard Moravec of Eugene, OR; Patricia Eagles and her husband Peter of Carmel, IN. Grandmother to Ernie Covino, 3rd and his wife Lisa, Julieann Covino, Amy Bannerman and her husband Trevor; April Garcia and her husband Daniel, Joshua Jackson, Brian & Christopher Eagles, Laura & Kristina Moravec, Scott & Kevin Doxey, and the late Danny Doxey. Great-grandmother to Cody, Lilly and Gwen and is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Concetta DeRose, Maria and Pietrina Maravigna.

Frances was an active member of the Sons Of Italy, St. Mary’s Sodality, and Winchester Senior Center. She was a former Employee of NE Rehabilitation Hospital.
Fran enjoyed meeting people and learning about different cultures this was evident from her world travels. She was the constant hostess and frequently welcomed visitors from around the world into her home as a member of SERVAS International Cultural Program; Friendship Force and the American Host Program.
At Frances’ request her body has been donated to the U. Mass Medical School.
Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Friday, January 7, 2011 from 3-8 PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10 AM. Memorial Donations may be made to Medical Missionary of Mary 179 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143 or to Woburn Council of Social Concern Food Pantry, 2 Merrimac Street, Woburn, MA 01801.
