Obituary

SALEM - Catherine R. (McKennon) Dobson, 97, of Salem, wife of the late Elmer Whittier Dobson, died Wednesday evening, December 15, 2010 at the Salem Hospital, following an ill turn.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late William and Josephine (LaChance) McKennon.

Catherine settled in Salem and later moved to Peabody, where she resided for over 30 years before moving back to Salem in late 1970's. She was a member of the Salem Council on Aging, The Ward One Club, and was an avid bingo player.

She is survived by one son, Richard J. Dobson of Salem, 9 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, one sister, Josephine Galanis and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Robert Dobson, Nancy Keane and Gail Page, and the sister of the late William McKennon, Jr., Lillian Morganstern and Annette Dincecco.

Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 8 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 am at the Immaculate Conception Church. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, 5 to 8 pm. Burial will be in Forest City Cemetery, South Portland, Maine. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
