Mary Alice Combee, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Pierce County Nursing Home in Blackshear, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Spikes and Rev. Glen Fussell officiating. Interment will follow in Oklahoma Cemetery, Wilcox County. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Combee was born January 29, 1930 in Turner County, GA to the late Pleasant W. and Dora Rumph Lamb. She moved to Fitzgerald in 1984 and was a former resident of Turner County and Moultrie. Mrs. Combee was a homemaker and a member of Double Run Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and raising farm animals.
She is survived by her children: Pat (Chip) Shemwell of Fernandina Beach, FL, JoAnn Black of Fitzgerald, Sandy (Jim) Birdwell of Waycross, Virginia (William) Holton of Moultrie, Stanley Combee of Fitzgerald and Laverne (E.C.) Yarberry of Douglas; 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; brother: Charlie Lamb of Warwick as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Council “Peanut” Combee, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchild, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
