WEBSTER – Mary L. Dow, 84, of 97 Birch Island Road, an entrepreneur and Woman of the Year recipient, died Tuesday, December 23, in Hubbard Regional Hospital.
She leaves a grandson, Scott Graves; 2 great grandchildren, Amberlin, age 13, and Sammy, age 6, all of Webster; 2 sisters, Lois Charity “Rosebud” (Dow) Carr of Piqua, Ohio, and Katherine (Dow) Harmon of Wilmington, Ohio; a former daughter-in-law, Sharon Costello of Florida, and also a former daughter-in-law and very close old friend, Eleanor T. “Ellie” Noiseux of Millbury, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Frederick Eugene Graves, who died October 15, 1990, by a brother and sister and by her lifelong companion and business partner, Charles Russell “Magoo” McGeary, who died on December 17.
She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, daughter of Stanley and Lydia (Dunaway) Dow. She attended Bellefontaine high School.
Miss Dow was the owner of Waterfront Mary’s and also joint owner of Mac and Mary’s Swingin’ Chicken, on Lake Street in Webster. She worked until recently.
She was recognized as Woman of the Year by the Patriot newspaper on May 7, 2000.
