Gladys Mathews Mashburn, 88, of Tifton died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2010, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Larry Layfield will officiate with burial to follow in Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery. Jamie Roberson, Brian Roberson, Donnie Cromer, Joe Cromer, Todd Thompson and Larry Cromer will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 18, 2010, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals prior to the service.
Mrs. Mashburn was born on May 29, 1922 in Worth County and was the daughter of Joseph David Mathews and Tula Purvis Mathews, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold F. Mashburn, Sr.; two sisters, Mildred Wright and Lucille Mashburn; and one grandson, Tate Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula. She was a lifetime resident of Tift County.
Mrs. Mashburn is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, A. Ford Jr. and Lynn Mashburn of Cumming; three daughters and one son-in-law, Annette Roberson, Sue and Larry Cromer and Jane Thompson, all of Tifton; one brother, J. D. Mathews of Bonifay, Florida; two sisters, Ernestine Causey and Ozella Fowler, both of Tifton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie and Paula Roberson, Brian and Windi Roberson, Donnie Cromer, Joe Cromer and Todd and LeiAnn Thompson; and six great-grandchildren, Scott, Kacey, Haley and Bryce Roberson and Josh and Brianna Roberson.
