Obituary

M. Christine Sullivan, 82, of Manchester, Connecticut, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Bellingham, MA. Mrs. Sullivan was born in Westerly, RI to Thomas E. and Marion C. (Waters) Sullivan. The youngest of seven children, she graduated from Stonington High School. She is survived by John T. Sullivan, her husband of 59 years. She was the mother of Glenna Laverdiere and her husband Marc of Bellingham, MA; John and his wife Sue of Bolton; Brian and his wife Lee, formerly of Tolland; Terry and his wife Tricia of Bristol; Kevin and his wife Cara of Sandwich, MA, and Tim of Manchester. She leaves 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, J. Laurence Sullivan of Westerly, RI; Virgene Farrell and her husband John of Pawcatuck, and her sister Patricia Raber of East Windsor, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Chris worked for 37 years as a podiatry assistant in Manchester. A gracious and compassionate woman, she provided frequent acts of kindness for many, especially the elderly. She suffered for several years with Alzheimer’s disease and participated in a clinical research study at Yale New Haven Hospital in an effort to contribute to a cure for this debilitating illness.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at St. Blaise Church, 1158 S. Main St., Bellingham, MA. Friends and family are invited to gather at the church from 9 to 11 a.m., prior to the Mass celebrating her life.
