TEWKSBURY - Gordon S. Hirsh, age 85, a resident of Tewksbury for the past five decades, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 14, at Saints Medical Center in Lowell, following a sudden illness. He was the beloved husband for 53 years of Carole S. (Youngquist) Hirsh, who died April 28, 2007.
He was born in Boston, June 17, 1925, a son of the late Louis and Alice (Hodges) Hirsh. He was raised in Allston, and lived in Brighton until moving to Tewksbury in 1961. He was a former member of the Tewksbury Rod and Gun Club, and was an avid golfer.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Hirsh worked as a safety consultant for the Superior Printing Company in Marlboro.
He is survived by six children and their spouses, Karen and her husband Owen Finnegan of Londonderry, NH, Kenneth and his wife Theresa (Gillard) Hirsh of Tewksbury, Linda Houle and her fiance Kevin Hanley of Nashua, NH, Dean and his wife Christine (Morin) Hirsh of Lowell, Pamela and her husband Randy Boulet of Nashua, NH, Karl and his wife Lisa (Jellison) Hirsh of Tewksbury; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, William Youngquist of Belmont; lifelong friends Ruth Bradley of Tewksbury and William Wenstrom of Norwood, MA.
He was predeceased by his brother, Dean Hirsh.
His Funeral Service was held Friday . Dec. 17, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery.
