Mrs. Phyllis C. Bonafine, of Medford passed away December 14th at the age of 79 in the Brigham and Womens Hospital of Boston following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Bonafine. Born in Everett she was the daughter of the late Peter H. and Mary (Famiglietti) DeSesa.
Phyllis was raised and educated in Everett where she graduated from Everett High School with the class of 1948. Mostly a devoted wife, mother and grandmother she enjoyed sharing her talents as a wonderful cook and homemaker with family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loving grandchildren whom she cherished. Phyllis also worked for many years and was a former part owner of Bonafine Jewelers of Lexington. While her children were younger she was always involved with their many activities and was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Church Mother's Club.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Phyllis is predeceased by her brother, the late Michael DeSesa. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Joseph P. Bonafine and his wife Cathy of Lynnfield, Stephen R. Bonafine and his wife Nancy of Steep Falls, ME, Maria C. Bonafine of Medford, Linda A. Harris and her husband Rick of Medford. She was the loving grandmother of Joe and Michael Bonafine, Kayla, Leah and Grace Harris. She is also survived by her brother, Peter DeSesa of Medford, and her sister Marie "Dolly" Fortucci of Florida.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Friday, December 17th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis' memory to Triangle, 420 Pearl St., Malden, MA 02148.
