Ernest R. Brien, 86, formerly of Glendale, died November 24, 2010 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of the late Natalie (Wawszkiewicz) Brien who died in 2002.
Born in Woonsocket he was a son of the late Louis and Anna (Lamontagne) Brien. He was raised in Woonsocket and was a resident of Glendale for over 60 years. Mr. Brien served in the Navy during WWII.
He was employed as a welder for Blackstone Valley Gas and enjoyed gardening.
Mr. Brien’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the caregivers and staff of the Hebert Nursing Home for the care and comfort they provided to Ernest.
He is survived by a son, Raymond Brien of Nasonville, two daughters, Nancy M. Brien of Cranston, and Helen Palmer of North Smithfield, and a grandson Ralph Palmer of North Smithfield. He was the brother of Lillian Downes of North Smithfield, and the late Henri Brien. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
